Frequently Asked Questions
What is the gCODE approach to gut health?
gCODE treats gut health as a whole-body system, not just a digestive complaint. Our proprietary approach combines evidence-based Ayurveda, precision nutrition and microbiome science to identify root patterns behind symptoms. Care is personalised by gut type, lifestyle, symptoms and clinical need.
How is the gCODE approach different from standard gut treatments?
Most conventional approaches to gut health fall into two traps.
The Pill Approach uses antacids, laxatives or generic probiotics to temporarily mask acidity, force bowel movements or trying to add bacteria to a gut that isn't ready to host them. Symptoms may reduce briefly, but nothing corrects why the gut lost its rhythm in the first place — which is why the same problems keep returning.
The Data-Only Approach — increasingly common with microbiome-testing apps — gives you a large report of bacterial data but leaves you confused about what to actually eat, when, and why. Data without a clinical framework is not care.
gCODE bridges this gap. We start by understanding your gut type — your unique digestive pattern shaped by your Ayurvedic constitution, current imbalances, and symptom history. From there, we correct the physical environment of your gut — digestion strength, meal rhythm, food choices, stress load, sleep, and microbiome inputs — so it can regulate itself naturally. Microbiome testing is used where it adds clinical value, not as a standalone answer. Ayurvedic formulations are used where they support the correction, not as blanket prescriptions.
The result is not just symptom suppression. It is a gut that works better on its own, with fewer relapses, less medication dependency, and clearer daily energy, digestion and mood.
Comparison at a glance — gCODE vs. The Rest:
| Dimension | Antacids & Laxatives | Generic Probiotics | Microbiome-Only Apps | gCODE |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| What it targets | The symptom | The bacteria list | The data | The root pattern |
| Approach | Suppress acidity or force motion | Add generic strains to every gut | Report bacterial diversity | Identify your gut type, then correct the environment |
| Personalisation | None — same pill for everyone | Minimal — same strains for everyone | Data-heavy, guidance-light | Doctor-led, gut-type based, individually calibrated |
| Ayurvedic insight | Absent | Absent | Absent | Central — Prakriti, Vikriti, digestion strength |
| Microbiome science | Absent | Partial | Central but isolated | Integrated as one of three lenses |
| Clinical guidance | Pharmacist-level | None | Algorithm-generated | Ayurveda doctor, personalised follow-up |
| When symptoms return | Take another pill | Try another strain | Re-test and repeat | Adjust the plan based on progress |
| Best for | Acute, one-off relief | Mild general support | The curious, self-directed user | Chronic, recurring gut concerns needing real correction |
Antacids, probiotics and microbiome tests are tools. gCODE is a clinical framework that decides when — and whether — to use them.
How is gCODE different from a standard Ayurveda clinic?
gCODE combines classical Ayurvedic assessment with nutrition, microbiome science and structured clinical protocols. Care is doctor-guided, outcome-focused and personalised to gut type. Instead of only prescribing herbs, gCODE also corrects food, rhythm, digestion, sleep, stress, movement and microbiome patterns.
How does gCODE combine Ayurveda, nutrition and microbiome science?
Ayurveda identifies digestion strength, imbalance and body pattern. Nutrition translates this into practical food choices. Microbiome science adds insight into bacterial diversity, fermentation, inflammation and gut-brain communication. gCODE integrates all three into one personalised root-cause plan.
Our integrative approach works as a continuous loop. Take a case of
stress-linked IBS and erratic bowel movements:
Ayurveda assesses the whole system, identifying that nervous system stress is causing erratic, spasming gut motility (Vata disruption affecting the gut-brain axis).
Microbiome Science reveals sub-optimal short-chain fatty acid (SCFA) production, which are crucial for keeping the gut lining calm and resilient.
Precision Nutrition provides targeted, cooked soluble fibres to feed SCFA-producing bacteria, combined with Ayurvedic herbs to calm the gut-brain axis and stabilise motility.
What are the seven pillars of the gCODE framework?
The seven pillars of the gCODE framework are diet, movement, microbiome, environment, sleep, stress and the gut-brain axis. These pillars influence each other and together shape gut function. By assessing all seven, gCODE identifies what needs correction instead of giving isolated symptom advice.
Why does gCODE focus on gut type?
Because the same symptom can come from different root patterns. Acidity, bloating, constipation, fatigue or weight gain may each have different drivers. Gut-type assessment helps gCODE personalise food, herbs, lifestyle and microbiome support instead of using one standard protocol.
Is gCODE's approach personalised for each gut type?
Yes. gCODE does not believe one gut-health plan works for everyone. Acidity, constipation, bloating, IBS, fatigue and weight concerns each need different correction pathways. Gut-type based care helps personalise food, herbs, lifestyle, microbiome support and follow-up strategy.
What does a gCODE gut health program include?
A gCODE program may include doctor consultation, gut-type assessment, precision nutrition, Ayurvedic formulations, lifestyle recommendations, gut-brain support and follow-up guidance. Microbiome testing may be recommended when clinically useful. The program is designed around the person's root pattern, not a standard template.
How long does it take to see results?
Most gCODE patients notice initial symptom relief — reduced bloating, better bowel rhythm, less acidity, improved energy — within the first 10 to 14 days. This is the Reset phase, where digestive rhythm and daily comfort begin to normalise. But symptom relief is not the same as gut correction. Rebuilding digestive strength, calming gut sensitivity, and restoring microbiome balance is deeper work that typically unfolds over 1 to 3 months — the Rebuild phase. Deeper tissue-level healing, gut-brain regulation and long-term stability continue over 3 to 6 months — the Renew phase.
At gCODE, we are transparent about this timeline: quick relief is possible for most people, but lasting change is a journey. Which path is right for you depends on how long your symptoms have been present, your gut type, and your goals. Our doctors recommend the appropriate program length after your consultation — we don't push longer plans than your condition needs.
What if my symptoms don't improve?
Gut correction is not linear. Some people respond within days; others need several weeks before the deeper patterns shift. At gCODE, we build progress reviews into every program — your doctor reassesses your symptoms, bowel pattern, digestion, sleep and energy at each follow-up and adjusts the plan accordingly.
If your response is slower than expected, we do three things. First, we re-examine the root pattern — sometimes what looked like a bloating problem is actually a motility issue, or what appeared stress-linked turns out to have a microbiome driver. Second, we adjust the protocol — food, timing, formulations, or lifestyle inputs — based on what your gut is actually telling us. Third, if clinically warranted, we recommend targeted tests
(microbiome profiling, blood work, or specialist evaluation) to sharpen the
diagnosis.
In cases where symptoms suggest something outside our scope — structural disease, autoimmune activity, or a condition needing specialist
management — we refer you to the appropriate doctor. Our commitment is not to keep you in a program; it is to get you to the right answer. Progress, not
persistence, is the measure.
Do I need to stop my current medications?
No — and you should not stop prescribed medication without
your prescribing doctor's guidance. This includes PPIs and antacids, laxatives,
thyroid medication, antidepressants, blood pressure or diabetes medication, and any long-term prescription.
At gCODE, we work alongside your existing treatment, not against it. If you are on medication for a diagnosed condition, our doctors design your gut-health plan to complement it — improving digestion, absorption and lifestyle inputs without interfering with what your other doctors have
prescribed.
Over time, as your gut function improves, some patients find that their reliance on symptomatic medications — like daily antacids or laxatives — naturally reduces. For chronic conditions (thyroid, diabetes, hypertension, autoimmune management), gCODE supports the underlying gut and metabolic health. If your biomarkers improve significantly over time, your prescribing doctor may consider tapering or discontinuing your medication — that decision remains with them, not with us.
If you're unsure how your current medication fits into a gut-health plan, mention it during your consultation — the doctor will guide you on what stays, what can be reviewed with your prescribing physician, and what may need coordination.
Who is the gCODE program NOT for?
gCODE is designed for people with chronic, recurring or lifestyle-linked gut concerns — bloating, acidity, IBS, constipation, fatigue, weight-related metabolic issues, and stress-linked digestive patterns. It is not designed to replace acute or emergency medical care.
You should consult a gastroenterologist first — not gCODE — if you are experiencing: active flare-ups of Inflammatory Bowel Disease
(Crohn's, Ulcerative Colitis) requiring immunosuppressive management; sudden or unexplained GI bleeding, black stools, or blood in vomit; persistent
unexplained vomiting; unexplained rapid weight loss along with GI symptoms;
severe abdominal pain requiring emergency evaluation; suspected GI cancer or diagnosed malignancy under active treatment.
Our doctors are trained to recognise these red flags during consultation and will refer you appropriately if needed. gCODE is also not the right choice for someone seeking to avoid conventional care for a serious diagnosed condition. We work alongside modern medicine, not against it — and coordinate with your existing doctors when appropriate.
